What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-Rich Plasma, also known as PRP, is a high concentration of your own platelets in a small volume of plasma that contains various growth factors. It’s an FDA approved, safe treatment derived from your own blood. Although platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood, platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which accelerate tissue repair and wound healing. These growth factors activate and stimulate regeneration by encouraging collagen production in your own skin. When combined with diVa, PRP helps to improve the thickening of the vaginal walls and to reverse volume loss in these walls as a result of aging.

How is the PRP collected?

Step 1: Utilizing a specialized blood collection tube, a practitioner draws a small amount of blood similar to what is required for a basic lab test.

Step 2: The tube is then placed into a centrifuge which spins the blood at a very high speed, causing the platelets to separate from other components of the blood.

Step 3: Once the platelets are concentrated into the plasma they can be applied to the treatment area. Activation causes platelets to release essential growth factors and signaling proteins, which are responsible for the healing process.

What are the benefits of using PRP with diVa Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation?

When combined with the diVa, PRP helps to improve the thickening of the vaginal walls and to reverse volume loss in these walls as a result of aging. In combination with the diVa, we take advantage of the disrupted skin surface and we simply apply PRP directly over the surface of the treated area. The PRP is rapidly absorbed and exerts its effect deep into the skin through the micro-channels in the vagina that the laser has created.
