The Vampire Facial® has become popular thanks to the many celebrities having this treatment to keep their skin glowing and camera ready. The Vampire Facial® combines Platelet-Rich Plasma and Micro-needling.
What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet-Rich Plasma, also known as PRP, is a high concentration of your own platelets in a small volume of plasma that contains various growth factors. Using PRP in combination with Micro-needling can help remodel and repair skin damage and create new skin.
How is the PRP collected?
Step 1: Utilizing a specialized blood collection tube, a practitioner draws a small amount of blood similar to what is required for a basic lab test.
Step 2: The tube is then placed into a centrifuge which spins the blood at a very high speed, causing the platelets to separate from other components of the blood.
Step 3: Once the platelets are concentrated into the plasma they can be applied to the treatment area. Activation causes platelets to release essential growth factors and signaling proteins, which are responsible for the healing process.
What is the difference between the Vampire Facial® and the Vampire Facelift®?
The difference between the Vampire Facial® and the Vampire Facelift® is that the facial does not include any injection with a syringe. The PRP is spread over the skin and the fine needles of the Micro-needling device (DermaPen) creates “entry pores” to the top layer of the skin. This delivers the PRP to the dermis and further enhances the Micro-needling treatment.
