Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Jeuveau™ is an injectable neurotoxin treatment FDA-approved to treat lines between the brows, also called glabellar lines. It works by temporarily freezing the nerve signals that tell your facial muscles to contract, smoothing moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance.
The main difference between these two neurotoxins is that Jeuveau™ undergoes a different purification process than BOTOX® Cosmetic. The vacuum drying process of Jeuveau™ has been shown to not damage the botulinum toxin protein. Therefore, it is theoretically possible that Jeuveau™ may have better potency than other wrinkles relaxers.
Patients 18 years and older who wish to smooth glabellar lines can often benefit from Jeuveau™. Be sure to let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition that affects your nerves or muscles, or have had any past reactions to botulinum toxin products, as this treatment may not be right for you. Please contact our office today to schedule a consultation appointment.
During your Jeuveau™ treatment, a topical anesthetic will be offered to ensure you are comfortable. Then, a very fine needle will be used to artfully inject the Jeuveau™ into the area between the brows. Treatment is quick, taking about 10-15 minutes to complete.
While some patients may be able to see improvement after just a couple of days, full effects will be visible after 7-10 days.
Following treatment, you may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness, which will resolve with time. Patients should avoid alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, and sun/heat exposure for the first 24-48 hours after treatment for optimal results. Our team will provide you with specific instructions regarding how to care for your treatment site after injection. Results can last from 3-6 months.
