What Are Exosomes?

Exosomes are considered a form of regenerative medicine and they are quickly gaining popularity in the cosmetic field. Exosomes are naturally found in the body, and they have a key role in cell-to-cell communication, including the transfer of cytokines and growth factors that encourage wound healing, tissue repair, and tissue regeneration. Unlike stem cell therapy or PRP treatment, exosome therapy does not use donor cells in your body so you don’t have to undergo a blood draw. Instead, they are derived from donated human mesenchymal stem cells that have a wealth of growth factors, peptides, amino acids, enzymes, and necessary vitamins and minerals.

When applied topically to the skin, healthy skin cells are resurfaced, and stronger skin is rebuilt to combat outward signs of aging. The skin also receives intense hydration to rejuvenate a more youthful, glowing complexion. Exosome therapy (also called stem cell therapy) can also be used on the scalp to stimulate damaged hair follicles and regrow healthier, fuller hair.

Exosome Candidates

Almost all men and women who are bothered by fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin, acne scars, or even skin texture can benefit from the natural healing powers of exosome therapy. Exosomes are often used in combination with intensive services like laser skin resurfacing so your candidacy will be based on those procedures. This can be discussed in greater detail at your initial consultation.

The Exosome Treatment

Exosomes are applied topically and massaged into the skin or scalp. This is a quick and relaxing treatment, and you will start to see improvements in your skin’s complexion after the first treatment. However, a series of treatments is often recommended for optimal results.

The exosome facial can also be combined with chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microneedling, or microneedling with radiofrequency for more intense rejuvenation. Microwounds created by microneedling or laser devices form channels in the skin’s surface that allow the nourishing exosomes to penetrate more deeply in the dermal layers. Exosomes also speed up recovery after these treatments because they help the skin heal.

What to Expect Following Exosome Treatment

There is no downtime or recovery after exosome treatment, but you might have a slight recovery period if exosomes are combined with other treatments. After a skin rejuvenation procedure, patients will immediately see more hydrated, evenly toned skin. For hair restoration, results will start to develop after 5 treatments and are often fully developed after 10 treatments. These results are long-lasting and will help you maintain healthy, youthful skin.
