It’s that time of the year when cold weather and low humidity levels result in dry and and dry/dehydrated skin. Without proper care, dry skin can lead to a rough and flaky texture, more pronounced wrinkles, increased sensitivity and inflamed skin (collagen and elastin breakdown).

Here are 8 tips on how to keep your skin hydrated through the season.

1.) Check your cleanser
Cleansers can be very drying for the skin. Try a more hydrating cleanser like SkinCeuticals Simply Clean. This cleanser gently exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal smoother and softer skin.

2.) Glowing skin from the inside out
Try these 7 foods for glowing skin; broccoli, radishes, yogurt, olive oil, walnuts, berries and dark chocolate (yes, chocolate!)

3.) Drink up!
Due to the cold temperatures in the fall and winter months we tend to opt for warm drinks instead of a glass of water. Water is so important to keep you hydrated from the inside out. Next time you are in the mood for a warm drink, try warm water with lemon. Soothing and hydrating!

4.) Humidify your home
Heating your home in the colder months can dry out the air. Consider purchasing a humidifier for your home to put moisture back into the air. This will prevent your skin from drying out.

5.) Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
Moisturizer is key for the cold months. Moisturize immediately after washing to help lock in moisture. Try SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:42  to restore skins essential lipids. Moisturize overnight with SkinCeuticals Renew Overnight Dry for a gentle exfoliation to fight dryness.

6.) Wash in lukewarm water
Though hot showers and baths can feel especially good in the winter, try using lukewarm water to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils.

7.) Exfoliate!
We often think moisturizer is the most important winter skincare product but moisture can’t get in if there are too many dead skin cells in the way. For the face, try SkinCeuticals Retexturing Activator or Micor-Exfoliating Scrub to hydrate and exfoliate or try the Body Retexturing Treatment to exfoliate and add hydration to rough body surfaces.

7.) Try a hydrating serum
SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel is a soothing gel serum with botanical ingredients that calm and hydrate skin while improving visual redness. Add Hydrating B5 Gel to your winter regimen to add extra replenishing moisture and restore radiance for a smoother complexion.
